Wine for the Holidays!
Hello all and a Merry Christmas eve! I needed to quickly share my new holiday make up addictions and we have a theme here people- Wine!! I highly recommend all of these products! As for the nails, use that top coat for extra protection and shine! Feeling sassy? Add some glitter! When it comes to lips… Liner is a must! It’s a fashion thing, not an old lady thing ! Need it exta matte? Cover your whole lip with liner! Especially if you’re going to be sippin the bubbly 😉 it well help the lipstick stay on your lips rather than the glass! So happy holidays! Stay safe and stay fashionable ❤ xoxo
Fashion Deals of Summer 2014
Hello all!
Summer 2014 has so far been a pretty hot one and I needed to stock up on my shorts! I decided to stay away from the stereotypical Abercrombie Daisy Dukes and look for a more professional pair of shorts that I could wear to work. After days of extensive research I stumbled upon some great shorts for a great price!
New York and Company! Love this store and would love to intern for them in the upcoming future! Anyway, what makes their shorts the winner, besides the fact that they come in awesome patterns and are super comfortable, but the price! For the past month they have been (online and in store) either buy one get one free or all half off! So between both deals you will be getting two pairs of well made sorts for a little under $50!!! I am a girl with wide hips and a high waist and I love the fit of the shorts! I tend to go for the ones with a little extra stretch because I’m constantly moving around at work and they fit wonderfully! Seriously! I’m going to compare these shorts to tattoos… Once you get one you will be addicted! Happy shopping all 🙂
Here are some of my favorites and ones that I own!
Belated Easter Egg Hunt
In New York City everything is over the top. On Halloween my friends and I found ourselves weaving in and out of the streets in Chelsea in our costumes watching the Halloween Parade. The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade is watched all around the county on Turkey Day. I have also personally turned into an icicle while at the Rockefeller Center Tree lighting. So what does the city offer for Easter? How about some hand designed Faberge Easter Eggs in Rockefeller Center! Talk about the talent this city has to offer! I never thought I would say the sentence, “This Egg is a master piece”, but I did multiple times. The artists used all different techniques to decorate their eggs. Paint, sharpie marker, metal, and just about any other medium of art you could imagine! Now I’m not sure of an exact count, but there had to be over one-hundred! It is only up until the 25th, so if you are in the area I HIGHLY recommend going to see them! You will not be disappointed!
Here are a few of my favorites 🙂
How cool of an idea is this? It was painted with chalkboard paint so people could write and draw on an egg themselves! This was especially fantastic because the whole time I was looking at the eggs I was thinking ‘How the heck do I get involved in this?!’ So, if anyone could help me out with that it would be much appreciated! Cheers to having a new goal/bucket list!
This egg reminded me of my notebooks of my high school chemistry classes, sharper marker doodles! Seriously, this was done by hand with marker and touched up with white out.
Love the scrapbook feel of this one! Reminded me of something my Nana would love to have! She was a pro when it came to gold spray paint ❤
Many of the artists used layers of paint to create textures. Some of the eggs were in cases, but the ones that were not we were able to touch! As much as art should be viewed with your eyes and not your hands, touching the eggs and what they were created with really helps one appreciate them so much more!
Another scrapbook like egg, but with a pop art feel.
The talent that people possess is amazing! Street signs? The artist who thought of that gets two thumbs up!
I just thought this was beautiful 🙂 I hope who ever made it is beyond happy with what he/she has created! I can’t imagine the time and effort that went into this. Talk about patience!!
If you are not able to check out the eggs in person this year you should definitely search for it online or other social media!
Watch Out!
Saved by the Fashion
Every morning around 7AM I wake up to the sound of the bell, and no not a late bell, the bell at Bayside High School. While Zac Morris and his friends are causing some trouble I am rushing around my dorm getting ready for my day. As I dig through my clothes trying to figure out what to wear I begin to notice the similarities between my wardrobe and Kelly Kapowski’s.
Fashion is forever in a cycle. Let’s open the shopping bags of Lisa Turtle, Kelly Kapowski, and Jessie Spano and compare, shall we? Crop tops, floral prints, body con dresses, and high wasted bottoms. You would think that the girls of Bayside went shopping at Forever 21, H&M, or my closet.
Fashion trends repeat themselves because that is the basis of the world. The world goes around, the sun goes around and fashion trends goes around. But that’s just my opinion.
Actually, top fashion houses use fashion trend forecasting resources help predict trends. Fashion & trend forecasting is the prediction of mood, behavior and buying habits of the consumer at particular time of season. All of this is effected by current events and the state of the economy. It plays a major role in introductory phase of recurring fashion cycles.
Take a look at Kelly, Lisa, and Jessie and then see some new clothing for sale at Forever 21!
Then 9AM hits and the 5th episode of the morning has begun, I am actually saved by the bell of Saved by the Bell.
Your Spring 2014 Fashion Shopping Guide
Spring Break is just around the corner and if you are like me you will be waiting until last minute to do your vacation shopping. No, I’m not talking bikinis and sunscreen. I’m talking about the fashion trends that will be carried into the rest of the Spring/Summer 2014 seasons, the fashion trends you can’t be without.
#1- The Shift Dress
There is going to be major 60s and 70s influence this season. The simple shape of the shift dress allows the focus to center on other details, prints and patterns.
#2- Patterned Pants
Seen in many collections, patterned pants are seen again as a popular item for Spring 14. Along with the prints and patterns defining the trend, silhouettes are a key factor this season. Peg leg, skinny, wide leg, cropped and pajama styles will offer a style suitable for everyone.
#3- The Peplum
Now I know what you’re thinking, ‘Emily, this is not a new trend!’, but just give me a minute to explain. A few seasons ago the peplum came back on the runway and you should expect to see it for a few more. The peplum can be altered and designed to fit into many trends. For example, it can be soft with ruffles, more structured and edgy, or pleated and color blocked. Halter and zip-front peplums will be flying off the shelves this spring and summer!
#4- The Boxy Top
The boxy top this season covers a variety of trends and looks from retro to futuristic looks. What makes it different from past season are the broad and exaggerated shoulders with wide sleeves. As for fabrics and colors, boxy tops will include sheer inserts, epaulettes and color blocking.
#5- Pencil Skirt
The pencil skirt can be worn for more than just the office, ladies! It is an all-time favorite of mine as well! It offers a great hourglass silhouette and favored with a high classic waist. The pencil skirt can have side slits and other construction details to update the style and look fresh.
Now these are just a few of the spring/summer 2014 fashion trends! So shop around and figure out what you see popping up in multiple stores and what is in the front on display. Fashion is like science, you have to do your research to get it right. Have fun and look fabulous on your spring break vacations 🙂
EB-ology- Don’t let your Bloat Control You. This ‘ology’ comes straight from my personal experiences and heart. Look through my closet and you will see a peplum top in about every color and style imaginable. But why the obsession? As a gal with a lot of food sensitivities, peplums are my go to when it comes to ‘the bloat’. We all get it and it can really ruin a good mood, but don’t let it ruin your outfit! The bodice of the peplum is form fitting, but right after it hits the bottom of your ribcage/belly button area the peplum begins and just like magic… WHALAH!! Your bloat has disappeared. Don’t worry, it will just be our little secret 😉
St. Pattys Day Nails!
As a gal who doesn’t typically wear green, I always paint my nails green for St. Patricks Day so no one thinks twice about pinching me! Anyway I wanted to share some nail art ideas and step-by-steps of a few of them. I’m actually very anti shamrock, pots of gold, ect. I’m not five or an elementary school teacher, I do not need little leprechauns on my person let alone my nails! Well here you go.. I hope you enjoy! All nails and the nail wheel are mine that I painted yesterday 🙂
OOTD and some EB-ology!
What is more girly than a pair of hot pink patent leather heels? How about matching those heels up with a hot pink blazer, throw on my favorite animal print top, add some bling and BAM there’s my outfit today 🙂
It’s Friday and let’s face it, most of us are running on our last tank of carb-free fashion fuel. Now this may not be a scientific fact, but I have found a direct connection between how one acts and how one dresses. Like all other theories there will be exceptions, but trust me on this one, alright? I could have just pulled on a pair of leggings and a crew neck sweatshirt, but since that is not very different from what I wear to bed, I decided to spice up my Friday wardrobe and all before my class at 9am!
Need some advice, tips, and tricks on fashion, makeup, life, and being a women? Check out my EB-ology page that will be continuously updated.
EB-ology #1: When you dress like you’re tired, you’re going to be tired.Yes, fashion should be comfort, but life is not a pajama party. Life should be your runway. So when you’re debating between look chic or wearing the sweats, go for the more stylish choice. Think about it.. no story about a bad day ever started with, “I wore this fabulous outfit today…”.
EB-ology #2: When in doubt, shoulders back, chest out. No, this one isn’t to show off your girls. Good posture increases oxygen flow which will make you feel more alert and will automatically make your outfit look much better. Clothes were made to be displayed well on hangers (that’s why models are so thin), not Kwazimoto. Come on girl, stand up straight! One more fun fact about good posture… you burn more calories with good posture as opposed to slouching.
EB-ology #3: Would Daddy say “no” and not let you go? If you wouldn’t want your Dad or Mom to see how you look, you should probably second guess your outfit choice. This rule applies more to night fashion, hopefully. Anyway, never let your outfit give a negative impression because you never know who is around you. Maybe the guy or gal at the bar is the same person who will be interviewing you in a few days. I’m not saying never show a little skin and never wear tight clothing. Seriously, as a girl with a tiny waist and curvy hips I am all for the body-con dress, but you have to respect yourself!
EB-ology #4: If your friends look lame, it’s you to blame. This can also be applied to the basic rules of feminism. Never let your girls go out looking like a mess, because even if you look absolutely fabulous no one is going to notice because of the natural disaster surrounding you. When your BFF asks you, “Do I look good?” BE HONEST! Before you answer her pause and ask yourself, ‘would I go out in that outfit?’. If she doesn’t look good just simply tell her no. You would expect her to do the same, right?
EB-ology #5: NEVER DWI and ALWAYS have a DD! This one is for those days when pre-gaming starts way before it should. Never DRESS WHILE INTOXICATED, unless you have a DESIGNATED DRESSER! Remember, alcohol inhibits good judgement. If you have no choice but to dress yourself while being a little tipsy, make sure you get 3 outfit approvals. It’s 2014 people, send a few picture messages, skype or facetime for a minute, or knock on your neighbors door. Not only will you be fashion saved for the night, but you will also be giving a few people a reason to chuckle. Girl, we have all been there. Don’t be embarrassed for what you are wearing!
