Thailand Adventures!

I recently traveled to Thailand with a friend from college to visit my best friend who has been living/working there since November! It was without a doubt the most amazing experience and trip! From playing with tigers at Tiger Kingdom, swimming in the crystal clear waters, riding elephants, and the crazy Patong nightlife.. I would go back in a heartbeat! So if someone out there would like to by me a plane ticket, let me know 🙂

Clear Skin Regimen

Growing up I was always the one with the terrible skin. I’m not that girl that gets one or two zits and acts like the world is ending (and if you’re one of those girls, go eat some dirt). Anyway, since seventh grade I had red, blotchy, cystic acne, pimples, and huge pores! To me, it wasn’t such a big deal in middle school because everyone else was going through it, but then high school came around, college, then graduating college… you get it. The thing about having acne… IT SUCKS! I tried everything to clear my skin and nothing has worked until the past 8 months! I tried Proactive, Clean & Clear, Clearasil, Neutrogena, Biore, Stridex, Tetracycline, Tri-Cyclen, Differen, Benzaclin topical, Retin-A Micro topical, Duac topical, Minocin, Benzac, Witch Hazel, Zapzyt, Noxema, Cetaphil, Clinque, chemical peels, laser treatment, and many more. I also tried Accutane, which is a super high dose of vitamin A. When I was taking it I was always in pain, dealing with super dry skin, having a daily bloody nose, and my was hair falling out. It was awful.

So what has changed in the past year to leave me with the clearest skin I have ever had? Just a few changes!

1. Invested in a Clarisonic Mia 2. Directly from http://www.clarisonic.com, “Cleansing is the essential first step in a healthy skin care ritual. The patented Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing Brush uses a sonic frequency of more than 300 movements per second to deeply cleanse the skin far more effectively, yet more gently, than traditional superficial cleansing or simple rotating brushes. The result is noticeably smoother, more radiant skin.” I am obsessed and could no longer imagine my life without it!

2. What do I use with my Clarisonic? A soapless cleanser! Yes, soapless… as in no soap! Two brands I stick to are Basis (can be purchased at Wegmans) and Purpose (can be purchased at almost any drugstore and Walmart). The soapless cleanser idea was suggested by a dermatologist a few years back. It is not harsh on my sensitive skin and doesn’t overly dry it either.

3. I drink at least one gallon of water a day. It’s that simple. Hydrate your skin, people!

4. Diatomaceous Earth. I take two tablespoons every morning! What the heck is that anyway, right? I’d rather make that another post for another day, but for now check out http://diatomaceous.org/

5. I take off my makeup every night! No matter how tired (or drunk) I am, I always grab a makeup removing cloth!

I really really hope this helps someone out there who is dealing with acne! I understand how emotionally draining it can be, but keep your chin up! Took me ten years, but my skin is finally pretty much acne free 🙂

HD Beauty Save

I have been all about the HD translucent powder for about a year now. It’s really just a great matte top coat that leaves your skin looking super even and soft! It minimizes imperfections, keeps oil under control, and just kinda holds everything in place! You can seal your foundation with it or wear it alone! The downside about it: I haven’t found a lot of brands that carry a great HD powder! I have tried two brands that give me the same amazing results with one huge difference… The price! Makeup Forever is one of my favorite Sephora brands and they have a great HD powder that comes in a few size containers. The .3oz container runs for $34.00 and while it’s a great product and well worth the money… I can get you a better deal! NYX HD finishing powder comes in a .28oz container and get this, it’s only $10.00! It gives you the same results and lasts the same amount of time! (Use sparingly) You’re welcome 🙂

The Healthiest Cake Ever!

Okay, so it’s not actual cake, but it is SO delicious! As I previously blogged; I have been taking part of a fitness challenge and keeping track of everything thing I put in my body (including the bottles of wine). Anyway, being a vegetarian has been difficult in this situation because I need a lot of protein, especially because I’m working out almost everyday. Peanut butter and all those other butters can be great sources of protein, but I like to keep my daily sugar intake under 25g a day. It’s a struggle, but I really try! I love to get a lot of my protein right after I lift and 99% of the time I go to this amazing recipe (listed below). I’m pretty sure everyone who has tried it has loved it!

I personally use EAS 100% Whey Protein Powder (vanilla)

One serving (2 scoops) has 26g of protein, 2g fat, 2g of sugar, and 7g of carbs

Instead of water, sometimes I use unsweetened silk soy milk to make it a little creamier!

Pudding is optional as well, I think I’ve used it once.

One last thing, if I’m drinking it right after a 5am workout I mix in some hot coffee! SO GOOD!

It’s Tearing our Country Apart…

*UPDATE* It’s actually a really ugly dress anyway you see it.

The dress debate. You have to had heard about it by now. Started on a random girl’s tumblr and has now spread over every type of social media and news broadcast you can think of, even Fox News. Last night at the bar all I heard was “blue and black or gold and white? Blah, blah blah..” If you are still reading this and have absolutely no idea what I am talking about, let me explain. A picture was taken of a random dress that a random girl bought. Her and her friends could not agree on the colors of the dress as seen in the picture. It wasn’t just a “it’s teal or jade” debate; one girl saw a blue and black dress and the other saw a white and gold dress. Basically, once it hit social media everyone started getting very heated about which color they saw. Even celebrities took to twitter and thought they were helping by sawing what color they saw.

I was really expecting Kanye to say he saw purple and neon emotions or something weird like that…

I agree with Taylor on one thing, it’s a trick.

I personally saw white and gold until Justin posted this. Now I see blue and black. Justin is ALWAYS right.

What colors do you see?

Drugstore Discovery- The Ultiment Eyeliner

I can’t be the only one that gets super watery eyes in these 10 months of negative temperatures here in western NY. I absolutely can’t stand when my eyeliner smudges or runs. For years I have been on the hunt of an in expensive eyeliner that does the trick. I finally found it and it beats any Mac, Urban Decay, Sephora, or Make-up Forever I have had in the past. The best part; it’s SO much cheaper! Maybelline Lasting Drama by EyeStudio Gel Eyeliner. Some of you are already turned off by the fact that it’s a gel liner, but believe me it’s different. Unlike other gels I’ve used, the Maybelline one is smooth and doesn’t smear everywhere as I’m applying it, even to the bottom line. The brush that comes with it is soft and not angled like most. It’s not overly stiff, but gives you better control with more structured bristles. I’ve only used the black one, and it is dark, dramatic black that stays that way all day and night. If you haven’t used a gel eyeliner before, practice before you go to use it on a Saturday night out with your girls. Five stars!
